Description
Named after the naturalist Coenraad Jacob Temminck, this tragopan is a gorgeous addition to any pheasant collection. The male is red and orange, with white spots and a blue face. The females are brown or gray with white spots, and smaller in size. Breeding season is usually March-June, and you can expect up to 6 eggs per clutch.
Temminck’s prefer roosting in trees. Their diet consists of grass and greens, berries, shoots, fruit, and a staple game bird pellet.
Our tragopans are not pinioned.
The Tragopans are yearlings, 12-14 months old.
