I've never had any kinds of bird before, but I ordered a pair and they were both reasonably easy to handle. They were a bit kiddish at first but they get more comfortable with me everyday. They're beautiful birds, look exactly like in the pictures.

Wish there were less of an age range, not much interest in helping from Strombergs

We love our Widget: she is beautiful, and has coo-versations with us every morning. She avoids being handled or petted, however, even after 3 months of respectful treatment, and we guess it’s because we got a pigeon on the older age of the spectrum. Before I ordered, I emailed Strombergs about when to order a pigeon for the best chances of getting a younger bird, and was told there I could request one on the younger side (but no guarantee) but not how to make this request. So we just had to hope. It seems to me that with the seasonal nature of much bird breeding, it ought to be easier to time an order to get a young bird. No communication with the breeder seemed possible, and Strombergs seems to just be a middleman saying “you get what you get, and we don’t really care either way”. My son really wanted a bird to feel close to, and it’s been disappointing to have missed that chance.
